In the occasion of the exhibition "Il Richiamo delle Marche" hosted in Palazzo Buonaccorsi Musei Civici in Macerata, be ready to learn all the connection on Lorenzo Lotto with this land. His footsteps will lead you to Recanati, hometown of Leopardi and of the tenor Beniamino Gigli, Macerata where you will admire the Arena Sferisterio, Jesi with the museum dedicated to Federico II di Svevia, ending in Ancona where more paintings of Lorenzo Lotto are waiting for you.
Day 1 - Recanati
Arrival in Recanati, wonderful city in the Marche Region, famous to be the birthplace of the poet Giacomo Leopardi and of the tenor Beniamino Gigli. Free lunch or possibility to have lunch in a restaurant in the historic centre. Meeting with the guide that will immerse yourself in a tour dedicated to Leopardi: discovery of places linked to the
poet with guided visit of his birthouse. Recanati is a city also connected to the great painter of the Renaissance, Lorenzo Lotto, that lived here for a long time working for the Domenican friars. You can admire some of his masterpieces preserved in Musei Civici of Villa Collaredo Mels. Dinner and overnight in hotel 4* in Recanati.
Day 2 Macerata/Loreto
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Macerata, about 25 minutes from Recanati. Meeting with the guide that will have you admire the beauties of the city, one of which the Sferisterio, a gorgeous theatre open-air. The tour continues with the guided visit to Palazzo Buonaccorsi, where the exhibition dedicated to Lorenzo Lotto is set up. Titled “Il Richiamo delle Marche”, the exhibition will expose works of the great artist of the italian Renaissance achieved in the territory and scattered somewhere else and works connected to the Marche Region: 20 authentic paintings, 5 drawing and some graphic works of great artists. Masterpieces of Lorenzo Lotto are exposed to the public, works came
from the most popular museums european such as Ermitage in Saint Petersburg, the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin, the British Museum in London, the Louvre in Paris, the Prado in Madrid or the Musée des Beaux Arts in Strasburg. Free lunch or possibility to have lunch in a restaurant in the historic centre.
Transfer to Loreto, meeting with the guide and visit to one of pilgrimage destination most popular of the Catholic Religion: visit to the Basilica Santa Casa, Museo Pontificio della Santa Casa and Museo Antico Tesoro della Santa Casa that preserves paintings, sculptures, tapestry and art objects among them the nine canvas of Lorenzo Lotto. Return to Recanati. Dinner and overnight in hotel 4*.
Day 3 Jesi/Ancona
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Jesi, city enclosed by a 15th century city wall. Meeting with the guide and city tour that includes entrance to the Pinacoteca Civica in the eighteen-century Palazzo Pianetti, with its wonderful Galleria degli Stucchi in rococò style and a beautiful Italian garden. Between the masterpices,
five works by Lorenzo Lotto stand out, did between 1512 and 1539 for San Francesco al Monte church and San Floriano church. Visit to the collection of contemporary art, placed in the second floor of the palace with works of De Pisis, Guttuso and Pistoletto. The tour provides for a visit to the beautiful Pergolesi Theatre. Possibility to visit the museum “Stupor Mundi, Federico II Experience Museum”, museum dedicated to Federico II di Svevia in the historical Palazzo Ghislieri. Free lunch or possibility to have lunch in a restaurant in the historic centre.
Transfer to Ancona, capital of Marche Region and meeting with the guide. Guided tour of the cuty with visit to the San Ciriaco Cathedral and entrance ticket to the Pinacoteca Civica Podesti, established on 1884 following the donation of painter Francesco Podesti. Here you can admire important paintings from XIV century to XIX century, among them the “Sacra Conversazione” by Lorenzo Lotto. Return and end of services.
