1781: the birth of the greatest composer in contemporary history Giuseppe Verdi will come in 30 years. In that year Verdi’s grandparents, Francesca and Giuseppe, decide to rent the house in order to continue their work as innkeepers there. A few years later Giuseppe dies and Francesca decides to carry on her husband’s bequest with the help of Carlo, Giuseppe’s future father. in 1805 Carlo marries Luigia. From this union Giuseppe Verdi is born on October 10, 1813. Admission is possible only with guided visits every 30 minutes.
The theatre is located in the “Rocca”, or fortress, once the castle of the Pallavicino family, founded in the 1200s but heavily altered. Today the “Rocca” appears to us as it did in the second half of the 1800s. On 15th August 1868, at the theatre’s solemn inauguration, when all the ladies present wore green while the gentlemen all had to wear green ties in his honour (“Verdi” is in fact the plural of the adjective “verde” whose English translation is “green”). Verdi himself was visibly absent even though two of his operas were performed: The Masked Ball and Rigoletto. Even afterwards, he was careful not to set foot in the theatre despite having contributed the remarkable sum of LIT10,000 for its construction and owning a box. Admission is possible only with guided visits every 30 minutes.
Antonio Barezzi, a wealthy merchant and a great music lover, glimpsed Giuseppe Verdi’s aptitude for music early on and asked him to his home as a music teacher for his daughter, Margherita. The first public appearance by the brilliant youth, in February of 1830, was in the salon, now called “Salone Barezzi” (Barezzi Salon), previously a seat of the Busseto Philharmonic Society founded by Barezzi and Maestro Ferdinando Provesi in 1816. Verdi lived in Barezzi house where little by little his friendship with Margherita turned into love. His studies were financially supported not only by his father and a scholarship from the Monte di Pietà of Busseto (Pawnshop), but also by Barezzi.
Just a stone’s throw away from the complex of Santa Maria degli Angeli, surrounded by a square fish-pond and preceded by a 17th century pavilion with a three-way entrance, stands the superb Villa Pallavicino attributed to the ducal architect Domenico Valmagini. In the olden days it was called “Boffalora” or, popularly, “Palazzo dei Marchesi”. From Nabucco to Trovatore and Rigoletto, from Traviata to Aida and Otello, from Macbeth to Falstaff, an oneiric immersion in the life and works of the great Maestro. Entrance with audioguide.
Three kilometres from Busseto, just across the Ongina stream, you can find Villa Verdi, the Maestro’s home in his old age. Even though it does not geographically belong to the province of Parma, it is intimately linked to all the other Verdi sites in Busseto. Its furnishings are intact and it is filled with Verdi relics.
Enjoy a reinforced appetizer a/o a lunch a/o dinner in this historical “museum shop” in the hearth of Busseto! Lino Baratta , the historical founder of this salsamenteria , defines it " a museum shop " and this is the sensation you feel when you get in the original TRAVIATA score upon a music stand , the first piano owned by the great Composer Verdi, that offer the client a charming indefinite atmosphere between Opera and History. The Salsamenteria was opened long time ago and soon became a meeting and refreshment place for wayfarers and pilgrims . Hot fried scraps of pork fat and different pieces of cooked pork meat were sold and eaten there . All this was served with parsley , pepper , tomato sauces with coarse salt and white pepper ( by the way , the word " salsamenteria " takes origin from this). In 1870 the Baratta Family bought the shop and opened it again in 1873 . In spite of two Wars of Indipendence , of the Colonial Wars and the two World Wars , the shop has always been open and full of vitality . Now the shop is run by the Concari Family who continues the tradition of an offer of happy hours spent among Art , Music , Anecdotesabout the great G:Verdi , seasoned cold meats and salami and excellent wines.
BACKSTAGE TOUR Enjoy your tour through the backstage of a big Theater. A charming visit through special places in order to discover what happens behind the scenes. Finally you can appreciate and enjoy some secret rooms, that never have been opened to the public. You can discover the couture’s laboratories, the setting rooms, the rehearsal room of the Orchestra, the dressing rooms and the stage. A private stroll in the beating heart of the Teatro Regio.
Discover and enjoy the charming sounds of ancient instruments! During a stroll through the historical center of Parma and the visit of the most important and charming churches of the town, you can appreciate the sound of the organ and some other ancient instruments.
An opera house in the town of Modena, (Emilia-Romagna province). The idea for the creation of the present theatre dates from 1838, when it became apparent that the then-existing Teatro Comunale di via Emilia (in dual private and public ownership) was no longer suitable for staging opera. However, this house was the venue for presentations of all of the works of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini till then. Following the world famous opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti pass away in September 2007, a native of the town and a lifelong resident, the Mayor of Modena has announced that the theatre was to be renamed for the singer.

Parmigiano-Reggiano (also known as Parmesan cheese) is the King of Cheese. Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese is not just manufactured, but it is made today as it was made eight centuries ago, using those same typical and genuine ingredients. You can follow the production from the elaboration to the maturation. After the visit, you can taste the King of cheese, with other region’s product, in the store located in the factory.
In the XVI century Villa Pallavicino in Busseto (Pr), home of the prestigious National Museum Giuseppe Verdi, you can live an unforgettable experience where culture embraces one of the best culinary traditions of this land. The Museum Renata Tebaldi is located in the Stables of Villa Pallavicino at Busseto – Parma. The visit’s itinerary will reconstruct the unforgettable career of Renata Tebaldi in a chronological sense; her presence in the rooms will be significant but discrete, the decor, by Daniela Gerini, exhibits the costumes, the jewelry of the period, the documents, the stories of a past time in a modern setting which will captivate not only the lovers of opera but also stimulate curiosity and admiration in the young people who approach this fascinating world.
The “Museo dei Violini” in Cremona will introduce you to the world of the violin, from the origin of the instrument till the objects belonging to Antonio Stradivari.
The Castle of Scipione of the Marquises Pallavicino is one of the oldest historic castles in the region. It proudly stands watching the hills breathtaking landscape of the Stirone andPiacenziano Regional Park, on the charming medieval village named Scipione Castello. The Castle of Scipione was among the first in the region to be declared a National Monument in 1922 for its historical-artistic and landscape values.
The fortress was built in 1385 by the Marchesi Bonifacio and Antonio Lupi who in 1347 had received feudal investiture over the territory from Charles IV, power that their family continued to exercise until was abolished at the time of Napoleon. It is probable that the first fortress, with a square floor plan and four towers at the corners, took only a year to build, while the outer walls were completed in 1392.

Normally, Verdi’s Arias are played during the concert. In case of 1 singer, the concert will last around 30 minutes: 3 or 4 singing songs delighted by some piano intermissions. With 2 singers the concert will last around 50 minutes: each singer will perform 2 arias and then a piano piece, followed by a duet. In both programs the encore is included (yet it is not include in the programme ). Before the concert you can visit the Museum.
All Verdi’s arias will be brought on stage: the concert will be called “VIVA VERDI” (exact program on request).The concert will last around 1 hour.
After the concert you can taste, on request, a light “aperitivo”-appetizer (cocktail Verdi -secret recipe- Valdobbiadene Prosecco, Parmesan Cheese, Mortadella chunks) inside the venue.
For groups we are pleased to organize private concerts (the clients can choose how many singers or musicians they want and also the repertoire) in private and exclusive locations, normally closed to the public: Esatour has the power to open the doors of the most suggestive places such as Teatro Verdi in Busseto or much more!
